West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is committed to promoting independence across all areas of service provision and seeks to ensure as many people live as independently as possible within their local community. Travel is a necessary aspect of everyday life and the Assisted Travel policy aims to ensure any mechanism of travel provided by HSCP is given in an equitable way and free from inconsistencies. A service user can take different forms of transport for their care and social needs for example their own car, a family or friend car, they can walk to the destination, via public transport, taxi or internal transport.
The following policy details the criteria required to be met for an individual to be assisted with the transport paid for by HSCP. An assessment may be required to be completed to see if you are eligible for HSCP to pay for any transport to meet your needs.
