Providing support to all care experienced young people across West Dunbartonshire
The Champions Board is a platform for care experienced young people to get to know, and build strong positive relationships with some of their many Corporate Parents.
The ultimate aim of the Champions Board is for those care experienced young people to help to change and develop policies and procedures in relation to their care, and to the care of future young people.
A young person is considered to be care experienced if they have been ‘looked after’ by the Local Authority. This can include young people who have lived in any of our Residential Children’s houses, or in Foster Care, Kinship Care, looked after at home by way of a supervision order, working with our Alternative to Care team, or working with our Throughcare and Aftercare team.
Corporate Parents are described as ‘the collective responsibility of the council, elected members, employees, and partner agencies, for providing the best possible care and safeguarding for those children who are/have been looked after by the council’. ‘Partner agencies’ include Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, third sector partners, etc.
